Path of Exile 2: Guide to Currency Making and Mapping Strategies

With the new season just around the corner, I want to help you all make the most currency before the season starts. While some of these methods may need tweaking or refining with upcoming changes, I’ll be updating the guide accordingly if necessary. For now, let’s dive into the tried and tested ways to make Path of Exile 2 Currency. If you’ve already seen other currency-making guides, don’t worry—there’s still a lot of value in this one, and I’ll be sharing my favorite methods that I’ve personally used.

So without further ado, let’s jump into the details!

1. Herb Slamming: The Tried-and-Tested Method

Let’s start with one of the most traditional ways to generate currency in PoE2—herb slamming. While this method is simple and effective, I find it to be a bit boring and repetitive. Nevertheless, it’s one of the most consistent ways to earn currency. Some players have accumulated multiple mirrors by using this strategy alone, all without even completing their entire map progression. For those who enjoy theorycrafting and managing the in-game economy, herb slamming can be a solid strategy, but for me, it’s just not that exciting.

Despite its repetitive nature, herb slamming involves collecting herbs through mapping, combining them, and using them to craft items for profit. The key to success is focusing on high-value crafting materials and making sure to optimize your slamming strategy. The profit margins can be significant if you get lucky with crafting outcomes, but it requires a lot of patience.

2. The Power of Mapping: The Best Currency Generator

For me, mapping has always been my absolute favorite way to make currency in PoE, and I highly recommend it to anyone who enjoys exploring, combatting, and earning profits through high-efficiency methods. You get to play the game rather than be locked away in the hideout performing repetitive crafting tasks. The key to making currency through mapping is choosing the right maps, mods, and strategies for high returns.

The first rule of successful mapping is selecting the right maps based on your damage per second (DPS) and overall color (damage types) balance. Aim for a 50/50 split—prioritize both high DPS and survivability. You’ll need to optimize your atlas and map modifiers to maximize your profits.

Three key elements will make your mapping sessions highly profitable:

  • Rituals: These offer some great opportunities to earn big, especially when combined with other powerful modifiers. Rituals can provide Omen of Whistling, which I once sold for 16 divines. That’s a huge amount of currency from just a ritual encounter.
  • Breaches: The Breach mechanic offers highly rewarding runs. Combining Breach with Rituals and adding quantity mods will make your maps highly profitable. It’s a tried-and-true method that has proven to be effective over multiple seasons.
  • Rare and Magic Monsters: Adding rare monsters and magic modifiers to your maps can also increase drop rates significantly. Quantity is king in this case—higher quantity means more drops, including valuable divines and even the elusive mirrors. Adding rare monster mods will increase the number of potential drops and create more opportunities for high-value items to drop.

3. Trial of Seas: A High-Risk, High-Reward Method

If you’re looking for a bit more of a challenge, the Trial of Seas is an exciting way to make significant amounts of currency in PoE2. After running about 50 Trials of Seas, you can expect a return of around 2,200 to 2,700 exalted orbs. The rewards are solid, but converting everything into divines may lead you to a profit of 15 to 20 divines per run—not a bad return, especially if you’re able to clear multiple rounds.

One of the standout drops in the Trial of Seas is the Last Flame Relic. This item is incredibly valuable, with a market price of around 370 divines as of now. Keep in mind, however, that the drop rate for this relic is incredibly low. Some players have gotten it on their first try, while others have had to go over 500 tries before obtaining it. The difference in luck is substantial, but that’s what makes this method high-risk and high-reward.

For those of you who are looking to maximize your returns from the Trial of Seas, you’ll want to focus on an optimized relic layout. While some relic layouts can be very expensive (60 divines or more), they increase your chances of getting valuable relics significantly. The key is to build up your relic collection, farm efficiently, and focus on the higher-tier items. The Last Flame Relic in particular is the jackpot, but it’s rare enough to require patience and dedication.

4. Trial of CHS: The Budget-Friendly Alternative

If you’re new to currency-making in PoE2 or just want a cheaper option, the Trial of CHS is a fantastic method to start with. It’s relatively easy to engage in, and you can begin farming with almost any class. The difficulty of the Trial of CHS will depend on the modifiers that are applied to the map, so be sure to adjust your build and preparation accordingly.

The Trial Master boss pack is another source of decent drops, including the Adorned Unique Diamond. While the drop rate is on the low side, this item is worth 100 divines when sold as unidentified. The drop rate can be unreliable, but if you get lucky, you could land a nice payout.

Additionally, the Trial of CHS can drop Soul Cores, which are another valuable item. One of the most expensive Soul Cores is the Aapa Soul Core, which is worth around 1,400 exalted orbs. These Soul Cores can be farmed through the Trial of CHS, and they offer some potential for high returns if you focus on farming the right bosses and completing the challenges.

5. Focus on Rare Relics and Their Quantity Modifiers

Another aspect of efficient farming involves focusing on relics that add quantity modifiers. For example, magic relics that increase the quantity of drops from certain encounters can be extremely valuable. These relics are not necessarily something you’d use in your own build, but they can be sold for substantial profits. Players often overlook these relics because they don’t immediately see the benefit, but they can end up fetching high prices on the marketplace.

6. Optimizing Your Atlas for Maximum Profit

If you’re serious about currency-making through mapping, it’s essential to optimize your atlas for the best possible outcomes. Depending on the mods you choose, you can drastically improve the value of your maps. Look for mods that increase monster density, rare monster encounters, and additional rewards. The more challenging your maps, the higher the potential for valuable drops.

For example, adding modifiers that increase the spawn rates of high-tier enemies will increase the likelihood of dropping high-value items, including Exalted Orbs and divines. Additionally, using the correct modifiers that increase rare item drops, such as jewels and relics, can also help you land valuable loot during your runs.

Conclusion: Prepare for the Next Season

To wrap things up, these are some of the most profitable methods I’ve used in PoE2. From herb slamming to mapping and farming Trials of Seas or Trial of CHS, each method offers a different experience and varying levels of risk and reward. As we move into the next season, be sure to adapt to any changes in the game mechanics and the economy.

I will continue to update this guide as new information and methods emerge, but for now, these strategies should help you maximize your cheap POE 2 Currency-making potential. Happy farming, and I hope to see you again in the next season!
